Preliminary industrial hygiene survey of R. A. Heller, Cincinnati, Ohio.

  Worker exposures to airborne chromic-acid (7738945) were determined at the R. A. Heller Company (SIC-3471) in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 7, 1974. Medical services were furnished by a local hospital. Of the 12 air samples collected, 2 exceeded the OSHA 8- hour time weighted standard of 0.1 milligrams per cubic meter. Spot tests indicated chromic acid contamination of the assembly work tables, rubber gloves, hang racks, and the finger tips of the workers. Positive reactions for chromic acid were also obtained for table surfaces in the office and counter surfaces and faucet handles on the sinks in the restroom. The author recommends implementation of appropriate safety, hygiene and medical programs. [Description provided by NIOSH]
