  A walk through industrial hygiene survey was conducted to TRW-IRC, Inc. (SIC-3676) in Boone, North Carolina on April 15, 1981 to identify worker exposure to hazardous agents in electronic resistor manufacturing operations. About 556 workers were employed at the facility. The facility had no industrial hygienist, but a doctor visited twice each week and two emergency medical technicians were present during every shift. A preemployment examination was required of all new employees, hearing and vision tests were provided for affected employees and periodic physical examinations were provided for the employees working with lead (7439921) and methylene-chloride (75092). The author notes that the State OSHA did not conduct any air sampling nor cite the facility for safety violations during its 1980 inspection, but recommends that the baghouse exhaust be analyzed to identify contaminants that may be recirculated into production area.
