  Worker exposures to painting materials were studied at the Chrysler Corporation, Lynch Road Assembly Facility (SIC-3711) in Detroit, Michigan, on June 27, 1979. The company was under consideration for inclusion in a NIOSH study of health hazards in the painting trade. Approximately 80 of the employees in the facility were assigned to the painting operations surveyed. The company had a safety and industrial hygiene program. Medical services were furnished by one physician and three nurses. Personnel records provided demographic information, department assignments, and death and retirement data. Almost all painting was performed in paint spray booths, using various paint primers and completed with a coat of acrylic enamel. The authors conclude that this facility and workforce should be used for further industrial hygiene, epidemiological, and medical studies. [Description provided by NIOSH]
