  Evaluation of hazards from exposure to toluene-diisocyanate (584849), petroleum-naphtha (8030306), and methylene-chloride (75092), occurring while maintenance employees change filters. Toxic effects include mucous membrane irritation, asthmatic attacks, skin irritation, eye irritation, and pulmonary edema from toluene diisocyanate; lightheadness, mental confusion, nausea, vomiting, and headache from methylene chloride; and nervous disorders, skin and mucous membrane irritation, and pneumonitis from petroleum naphtha. Data are given for composite environmental and medical findings, and airborne concentrations for all personal breathing-zone samples and general area samples, with established standard for each compound. No proven toxic effects are found in the working environment. Recommendations include institution of a medical monitoring system, facilities for removing affected employees from the working environment, provision of protective equipment, and local exhaust ventilation, and installation of a 'ball valve' in teflon seal in place of 'gate vale' in the toluene diisocyanate line where maintenance men change filters.
