  Personal air samples were analyzed for mercury (7439976) vapor at the United States Public Health Outpatient Dental Clinic (SIC-8021), in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 27, 1978. The director of the clinic requested the evaluation on behalf of three affected employees. No mercury vapor was detected in any of the atmospheric samples. Mercury analysis of a urine sample taken from one of the employees was also below the limits of detection. The NIOSH recommended criteria for mercury vapor is 0.05 milligrams per cubic meter. The author recommends stripping and rewaxing of the clinic floors on a periodic basis, good housekeeping processes, formalization of mercury disposal procedures, and adherence to the recommendations of the American Dental Association regarding mercury control.
