  Worker exposures to carbon-dioxide (124389) (CO2), carbon-monoxide (630080) (CO), formaldehyde (50000), ozone (10028156), sulfur- dioxide (7446095) (SO2), and particulate sulfates were surveyed on December 29 and 30, 1980 at the Salem Area Family Counseling Service (SIC-8321) in Salem, Oregon. The evaluation was requested by an unspecified individual on behalf of six workers who complained of headaches, dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, and eye, nose, and throat irritation. Area air samples were collected for analysis. Ozone, SO2, and particulate sulfates were not detected. Concentrations of CO, CO2, and formaldehyde were within acceptable limits. The author notes that the agency relocated when the workers' symptoms persisted even after the carpets, drapes, and ventilation system were cleaned. The symptoms disappeared within 2 months after the relocation. [Description provided by NIOSH]
