  • Description:
In-home workers such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters, appliance repair, cable, and phone technicians can take steps to reduce risks of COVID-19 when on the job. Before You Go to a Job: 1) Get a COVID-19 vaccine. 2) Check yourself and check in with your customer. Are you sick? Are they sick? Is anyone in either home sick? Does anyone have symptoms of COVID-19 such as cough, sore throat, fever, or shortness of breath? Is anyone isolated, or quarantined for COVID-19? If the answer to any of these questions is YES, postpone the job until everyone is healthy and cleared from isolation or quarantine. 3) Discuss the job with the client before you go to the job site. Advice on the Job: Wear a face covering, stay at least six feet apart, and avoid shaking hands in case you or your customer are not vaccinated. If you learn that anyone in the home is sick or quarantined, leave immediately and don't perform services. Minimize touching surfaces and exchanging items. If possible, take and process payment over the phone. Wash Your Hands Frequently. Wash hands: before entering and leaving the job site, before eating, after using the restroom. Wash your hands for 20 seconds using soap and water, especially if hands get soiled during a job. Hand sanitizer is not effective on visibly soiled hands. You can use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol on unsoiled hands. [Description provided by NIOSH]
