Description:The U.S. Bureau of Mines has developed a continuously measuring environmental radon monitor that is about 50 times more sensitive than commercially available instruments. The monitor is suitable for measuring low levels of radon around uranium and other mines, as well as in any environment where radon levels are of concern. Using standard aerosol science techniques and by means of two simple experiments, all relevant parameters necessary for a complete theoretical description were determined. The monitor has performed successfully outdoors for more than 2 years. [Description provided by NIOSH]
