  The U.S. Bureau of Mines is conducting research on methods for sorting and identifying mixed metal scrap so that this resource can be better utilized. A mechanical method for separating wrought and cast aluminum scrap and instrumental methods for identifying mixed aluminum scrap and mixed high-value scrap are reviewed.
