    Since its inception nearly 25 years ago the University of Cincinnati (UC) Education and Research Center (ERC) has provided education, consultation, community service and research for workers, employees and citizens drawn from a catchment area including much of the Midwestern United States as well else- where in the United States and from many other countries. The Education and Research Center at the University of Cincinnati has a full complement of Core Programs. This Center provides multidisciplinary programs for academic and research training in the major fields of Occupational Safety and Health and related disciplines and Continuing Education/Outreach. These disciplines include: Occupational Medi- cine (OM), Occupational Health Nursing (OHN), Industrial Hygiene (IH), Occupational Safety and Er- gonomics (OSE). All core educational units provide curricula not only for their own graduate students but contribute significantly to the teaching and research experiences of students in all programs. This interdisciplinary aspect of the ERC is the keystone of productive occupational and environmental health education, research and service. The interdisciplinary interactions are summarized for the ERC in a cen- trallocation of this application in the Center Administration narrative. Interdisciplinary student research has been facilitated in the past two years using support from the ERC Pilot Research Project Program. Because of the diverse industries in the area and our very large number of research faculty with wide- ranging expertise, our ERC does not have a single focus area for its research efforts. The ERC faculty and students are involved in extensive, research efforts addressing three-fourths of the NORA priority research areas. [Description provided by NIOSH]
