Description:Since the official launch of the project, April 1, 2000, the planning committee has held 15 teleconferences with an average participation of 12 members. The planning committee has held two face-to-face meetings in conjunction with agricultural safety and health conferences, one at the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health Conference in Cooperstown, NY in late April, 2000 and one at the National Institute for Farm Safety Conference in Dubuque, IA in June, 2000. The main activities of the planning committee during this period have been to define presentations desired for the conference, invite authors to write papers and present those presentations at the conference, finalize the agenda for the conference, and to secure participation from selected practicing farmers and farmworkers. A non-redundant mailing list of approximately 1250 individuals was generated from multiple agricultural safety and health sources. Each of the individuals on the mailing list received a post-card notice in early November, 2000 and a general conference program outline and registration information in early January, 2001. In addition, multiple conference notices were sent out on the agricultural safety and health list-serve maintained by the University of California - Davis, the Extension list-serve maintained by USDA, the AgrAbility list-serve maintained by USDA, and the HHS, Office of Rural Health Policy list-serve.
