    The Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency program at the University of Oklahoma for the period from September 1, 1991 through August 31, 1996 was described. From the beginning of the program to August 31, 1996 there have been 40 residents graduated. Thirty eight residents have taken the certification examination and 36 have passed. Course work for the masters of Public Health Degree included 44 semester hours in Occupational and Environmental Health, Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Health Organization and Administration, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. The residents completed this schedule over a 1 year time span. The academic year was supplemented with the continuity clinic experience with residents spending two half days a week in this experience. While the primary thrust of the Division has been the residency program, training also was provided for board certified occupational and environmental medicine specialists. One of the key activities has been the annual production of the Practical Approaches to Occupational and Environmental Medicine seminar geared toward primary care physicians, occupational health nurses, occupational physician assistants, and occupational physicians.
