Description:Restaurant workers are commonly exposed to occuational slipping and falling risks. Researchers conducted a field study of slippig and falling experience and perception of floor slipperiness among employees in 10 U.S.-style fast-food restaurants in Taiwan. Perception of floor slipperiness results show that the back vat, sink, fry vat and oven areas are rated as significantly more slippery than other working areas in the kitchens. Employees also identified the back vat, sink, oven and fry vat areas as the areas in which slips most frequently occourred. In addition, degree of wear was determined for each participant's shoe sole. [Description provided by NIOSH]
