Description:Best practices for using Mast Climbing Work Platforms (MCWPs or mast climbers): 1. Inspect the equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and recommendations. 2. Conduct ongoing checks for changes to the equipment and the job site. 3. Refer to the rate load chart on equipment to avoid overloading a mast climber. 4. Make sure all workers have been trained by a qualified person.* 5. Select a competent person* to oversee the mast climber. 6. Use a personal fall arrest system when working at heights and near an open edge. 7. Monitor changes in weather.
