Description:Hazards facing flood workers associated with cleanup activities were discussed. NIOSH investigated several work related deaths from electrocution and suggested steps to prevent future electrocutions. Carbon-monoxide (630080), musculoskeletal hazards, thermal stresses, heavy equipment, structural instability, hazardous materials, fire, drowning, confined spaces, power line hazards, agricultural hazards, stress and fatigue were discussed. These hazards were described and steps for reducing the risk associated with these hazards were given.
