Description:The home health care market will be a $400 billion per year enterprise in 2021. The world's population is aging at a faster rate than at any time in history and people are living longer. Currently, in the United States,10,000 Baby Boomers turn 65 years old every day and 70% will require long-term care in their lifetime (Genworth, 2021). However, the cost of that care varies considerably based on care setting, geographic location, and the level of care required. Because of large cost differences between in-home care and nursing home facilities, it is very likely that in-home care needs will eclipse nursing home care. In addition, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which nearly 40% of all COVID-19 related deaths occurred among nursing home residents, there may be a cultural change among senior citizens in where they prefer their health care delivered.
