Description:Nursing Home & Residential Care workers filed the most claims for COVID-19 and had the highest proportion of positive laboratory tests Washington State Workers' Compensation Claims, Feb 26 2020 through April 30 2020. In the first 9 weeks of the pandemic, 1176 workers' compensation claims were filed for exposure or disease from COVID-19. Workers from Nursing Homes and Residential Care Facilities filed the largest number of claims, with 65% testing positive for COVID-19. Workers in Hospitals filed the second largest number of claims (51% positive), followed by Clinical Care/Ambulatory Health (44% positive) and Fire & Police (40% positive). 'All Other' includes Administrative Workers (n=34, most in nursing homes), Social Assistance (n=18), and Air Transportation workers (n=12). 89% of COVID-19 claimants were quarantined due to exposure or symptoms (n=1043). Within the subsector groups shown, the proportion of negative test results was highest for Clinical Care/Ambulatory Healthcare workers (43% negative).
