Description:A cross-sectional study of chrysotile miners and millers was conducted in Asbest, Russia. A total of 2002 active or retired workers with >10 yr of employment were examined by chest radiography. Their work histories were converted to exposure estimates in terms of cumulative fibre levels and inhaled dust doses. About 15% of the workers had radiological abnormalities (parenchymal or pleural). The findings were consistent with high levels of asbestos exposure at quarries and production plants several decades ago. [Description provided by NIOSH]
