Description:Injury was a major public health problem around the world. Due to the excessively high number of injuries occurring in the agricultural sector, agriculture was regarded as one of the most dangerous occupations in the world. In China, agricultural injury control and research had not attracted sufficient attention. One explanation was the lack of a consistent and clear definition of 'agricultural injury' in China. This paper reviewed and summarized world literature on definitions of agricultural injury. Considering China's cultural and socioeconomic factors, we proposed a preliminary definition of agricultural injury for use in agricultural injury research and prevention. Our goal was to initiate a dialogue among injury researchers and public health professionals about defining agricultural injuries, surveillance systems enhancement, and research priorities in the People's Republic of China.
