Description:Seven years after the terrorist attacks, New Yorkers and others throughout the country still experience WTCassociated physical and mental illnesses. All providers can play an important role in evaluating and treating these illnesses. Primary care providers can also address mental health problems when evaluating patients for respiratory ailments and other health problems. These guidelines supply information on how to diagnose, treat, and, if necessary, refer patients for additional evaluation and treatment. However, the guidelines do not consider all WTC-associated illnesses, and providers should monitor the literature as more information on WTC-associated disease becomes available.
