Laboratory Reports and Rating Criteria for the Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) Program

• Description:
  The procedures used to evaluate data from laboratories in the Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) Program were described. The PAT program was a collaborative effort of NIOSH and the American Industrial Hygiene Association to provide quality control reference samples to occupational health and environmental laboratories. Sample kits were mailed quarterly to participating laboratories, and performance was evaluated on a series of industrial hygiene analyses. The statistical procedures used to evaluate the laboratories were described, and examples were provided of the statistics used and reports sent to participating laboratories. Laboratories were rated based on performance over the past year, with four rounds of tests. [Description provided by NIOSH]
