The recommended standards are given to protect against the hazards caused by chloroform exposure for up to a 10 hour workday, 40 hour workweek over a working lifetime. The workplace air shall be controlled so that the concentration of chloroform is not greater than 2 ppm (9.78 milligrams per cubic meter) of breathing zone air in a 45 liter air sample taken over a period not to exceed 1 hour in duration. Other recommendations are given covering medical examinations, record keeping, labeling, personal protective equipment and protective clothing, informing employees of hazards, work practices, sanitation, and monitoring.
