Description:Results are presented of a survey of occupational safety and health in U.S. hospitals. Illness is found to be the most frequent cause of absence in hospital employees, with respiratory problems the most frequent health problem. Strains and sprains and puncture wounds are the most frequent type of injury in hospitals. Incidence of illness and injury is found to increase as the size of the hospital increases.
