  Guidelines are provided for the design of explosion-proof electrical enclosures that will meet MSHA certification requirements according to part 18, title 30, of the code of federal regulations, and fulfill their intended service underground. The guide covers only those aspects of design that affect enclosure strength, ruggedness, endurance, and flame path, i.e., the enclosure ability to properly contain an internal explosion.
