Description:In 1983, mineral resource studies were conducted in the Kantishna Hills and Dunkle Mine areas of the Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska. Fieldwork included geologic mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, placer studies, and drilling. The Kantishna Hills area contains an estimated 688,000 oz of placer gold in 43 million cubic yards of gravels. The Dunkle Mine study area appears to be related to an igneous complex and two regional structural zones hosted by sedimentary, metasedimentary, and metavolcanic rocks. Volume II of this three-volume report contains the appendices. [Description provided by NIOSH]
