Description:Research was conducted to obtain an objective assessment of the feasibility of 14 unconventional techniques for removing radon-222 gas from mine atmospheres. The probable efficiency, reliability, safety, and cost of the methods were investigated. Most of the techniques were feasible, but none was considered practical under current or foreseeable mining operations. The methods tested were not cost competitive with fresh air ventilation techniques. [Description provided by NIOSH]
