Description:The report describes the U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) investigation of mineral resources in the Gallatin National Forest. The study was undertaken at the request of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and includes an examination of individual mines, prospects, claims, and mineralized zones, as well as an engineering study of identified mineral resources. Also included is an economic and socioeconomic study that illustrates the potential benefits to the region that are and could be derived from developing selected mineral deposits in the Gallatin National Forest.
