Information Circular 9363: Vibration Environment of Instrumentation for Scrapers and Loaders

• Description:
  The vibration levels of the heavy machines which are used in surface mining are much greater than for vehicles which are used on highways. In order to assure the proper functioning of electronic equipment placed on the surface mining vehicles, the U.S. Bureau of Mines has conducted a program of field measurements to define the vibration environment. The information in the report is for a class of vehicle which has a blade for scaping and wheels with rubber tires. The statistical information derived from these measurements can be used as a basis for laboratory testing to qualify equipment for a surface mining vehicle of the class.
