Description:This time last year, a 58-year-old Washington truck driver died from a fall. He missed the last step while exiting his truck, fell on his back, breaking several vertebra. His death wasn't instant, but his body never recovered and he died a couple weeks later. Too young, too soon. Tips to live by: Use 3 points of contact when exiting or entering your cab. Before you exit, look for debris, ice or water that might make the steps or ground treacherous. Wear footwear with good traction. Keep the cab steps in good repair. [Description provided by NIOSH]
