Description:Department store truck driver backing up to dock: A 48-year-old truck driver was backing a delivery box van truck up to a loading dock. He stopped the truck with the engine running and got out to remove a shopping cart from between the loading dock and the rear of the truck. He did not set the parking brake or use chocks. The truck rolled and he was killed by being pinned between the rear of the truck and the loading dock. Some people will not be forgotten This man will not be forgotten by family, friends, co-workers, employer or the people who found him. Some things cannot be forgotten When you feel rushed, remember: Being safe might cost you time, but it could save your life. 1. Shut off the engine and set the parking brake. 2. Use wheel chocks, especially on inclines. [Description provided by NIOSH]
