Description:On August 15, 1997, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and health (NIOSH) received a request for a health hazard evaluation from the International Union of Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers. The request centered on the concern that employees at a glass plant were exposed to hazardous concentrations of mercury during the manufacture of glass tubing and related maintenance activities.
