Description:Gas attacks in Tokyo, the Oklahoma City bombing, the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, and anthrax letter attacks; these tragic events have illustrated the realities of threats we face and the urgency to understand and prepare for future anticipated or unanticipated types of attack. This chapter summarizes guidance for respiratory and ventilation protection against airborne weapons of mass destruction (WMD) involving chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) agents. General aerosol science considerations for respiratory and ventilation protection are provided in Chapter 23 (Cember and Hoover 2004). [Description provided by NIOSH]
