Description:Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) have been recently identified as significant public health problems in Texas and elsewhere in the American South. A one-day forum on the landscape of research and development and the hidden burden of NTDs in Texas explored the next steps to coordinate advocacy, public health, and research into a cogent health policy framework for the American NTDs. It also highlighted how U.S.-funded global health research can serve to combat these health disparities in the United States, in addition to benefiting communities abroad.
