Description:The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health sponsored the development of a Buy-Quiet web tool for use by construction and manufacturing organizations for ease in Buy-Quiet program implementation. The web tool is hosted remotely, available to the public, and assists in ensuring the best available noise control technologies are being considered when purchasing new equipment. The web tool will interact with a noise level Global Database of equipment and machinery currently being developed. Each Global Database entry will contain operational specifications and noise levels as tested and entered by the product manufacturer. The Global Database will likewise be hosted remotely, available to all manufacturers of products, and links to individual organizations Buy-Quiet web tools. The NIOSH Buy-Quiet web tool provides the necessary platform for making, documenting, tracking, and promoting an organization's Buy-Quiet purchases. This paper details the Buy-Quiet web tool and describes how to easily implement the process within an organization. [Description provided by NIOSH]
