  The intent of this chapter is to (1) provide basic information to identify and quantify risk factors for work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) resulting from manual materarl handling (MMH) and (2) discuss typical methods used to reduce or eliminate these factors so that MSDs can be prevented. The chapter was designed to meet the needs of those individuals who are responsible for providing technical occupational ergonomics support but lack formal training in ergonomics. The chapter includes sections describing: 1. Who is at risk of MMH-related MSDs? 2. What risk factors are associated with MMH-related MSDs? 3.
