  It is entirely conceivable that in the months to come, Haitians may experience a reasonable level of public health, behavioral health, and medical support. Careful policy balances must be considered to provide optimal care while avoiding expectations of care, attention, and resources that are not sustainable over time. After every disaster, eventually the cameras leave, the helpers leave, and attention wanes. What remains are people left to live and cope with very changed lives. Careful and sensitive policy determinations have a major role in determining the nature and direction of those changes. [Description provided by NIOSH]
