Description:The use of cadmium (II) exchanged zeolite as a solid sorbent for the determination of hydrogen-sulfide (7783064) in the air was studied. A method using cadmium (II) exchanged zeolite as a AAA molecular sieve which acts as a preconcentrator for hydrogen-sulfide and immobilizes the sulfide by direct covalent bonding to the surface in the form of cadmium-sulfide (CdS) was developed. CdS was converted to methylene blue for spectrophotometric analysis. Field sampling and surface investigation techniques were used. The effects of interferences from atmospheric constituents and sample storage time were examined. The authors suggest that photoacoustic spectroscopy is feasible for direct nondestructive analysis.
