Description:NIOSH has developed a program to evaluate portable, direct reading instruments. The criteria used are size, power requirements, weight, direct-reading capabilities, range of concentrations, specificity, cost and accuracy. The results of these evaluations for carbon-monoxide (630080), sulfur-dioxide (7446095), combustible gas, and nitrogen-dioxide (10102440), instruments are reported. Realistic performance specifications have been developed for each of these types of instruments. [Description provided by NIOSH]
