Description:A method is described for determining the relative stability of lung alveolar surfactant (LAS) foams in intimate contact with liquids, based upon relationship of the pH of the liquid, in which a set or sets of individual samples of foam are tested simultaneously, with obtained results permanently recorded and compared internally. The method is suggested for study of physiological effects of atmospheric pollutants such as acid mists and vapors on lungs. [Description provided by NIOSH]
