  Construction and use of biomechanical profiles to determine degree of difficulty in a task, the level of training, skill, and aptitude of a workers, and to demonstrate better methods that improve performance. The biomechanical profile recorded by the apparatus used in an illustrative experiment can be applied for objective work and effort measurement, as well as rating. Other applications of the apparatus are the developing of optimum workplace layouts and motion patterns for a new product or process, even prior to trial runs, and also the training of workers for a new process without disclosing the nature of the product or process.
