Description:Evaluation of the time course of rectal temperature in 9 young heat acclimatized subjects, exposed for 2 hours daily to work at about 25- 35% of their maximal aerobic capacity in ambient temperatures of 36- 37 degrees centigrade, and investigation of the relationship between these two parameters. The results show that for moderate work loads, if an individual's cardiovascular fitness is known, it is possible to predict rectal temperature to work and heat on the basis of heart rate. Even if fitness is not known, changes in rectal temperatures can be predicted from changes in heart rate. [Description provided by NIOSH]
