Description:Total Worker Health(R) is an integrated approach to safety, health, and well-being introduced by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in 2011 and refined in 2016. Total Worker Health (TWH) is defined as "policies, programs, and practices that integrate protection from work-related safety and health hazards with promotion of injury and illness prevention efforts to advance worker well-being" (NIOSH, n.d., para. 1 ). At its core, the TWH program aims to enhance worker well-being by informing the design of work and employment conditions in a way that will not only prioritize safety but also optimize physical and psychological outcomes. Although there are interventions focusing on occupational safety and health and well-being, the empirical evidence of such programs in the literature remains sparse (Anger et al., 2015; Feltner et al., 2016). The purposes of this chapter are to provide a systematic review of occupational safety, health, and well-being intervention research through April 2017 and to examine the effectiveness of those interventions.
