Description:Air sampling for asbestos (1332214) dust was conducted at the Flintkote Manufacturing Facility (SIC-3292) in Ravenna, Ohio, during December, 1965. All sampling was performed using an impinger and a membrane filter sampler. Breathing zone samples taken with the impinger contained 0.3 to 44.2 million particles per cubic foot (mppcf) near the ball mill operation. Impinger general air samples ranged from 0.2 to 14.1mppcf. Membrane filter personal air samples ranged from 0.1 to 9.3 fibers greater than 10 microns per cubic centimeter (f/cc). Breathing zone membrane filter samples ranged from unmeasurable to 2.3f/cc near one lathe operator. Membrane filter general air samples ranged from unmeasurable to 5.3f/cc. All concentrations were below the threshold limit value of 5mppcf, except those near the ball mill operator. [Description provided by NIOSH]
