• Description:
  The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) plans and directs, and coordinates the national program effort to develop and establish recommended occupational safety and health standards and to conduct research, training, and related activities to assure safe and healthful working conditions for every working man and woman. In fulfilling its mission, the NIOSH employs many mechanisms including the making of grants to eligible institutions and organizations for the purpose of supporting research projects relating to innovative approaches to understanding the underlying characteristics of occupational safety and health problems and for effective solutions in dealing with them. Grant support is also available for demonstration projects which are designed to demonstrate, either on a pilot or full-scale basis, the technical and economic feasibility of new or improved methodologies in dealing with occupational safety and health problems amenable to technological solutions.
