Description:The purpose of the conference was to provide a forum to share practical experience and workplace programs designed to reduce and prevent work related musculoskeletal disorders. Innovative and effective ergonomic programs that have been instituted to cut the rates of musculoskeletal disorders, reduce associated absenteeism, turnover, and lost time, save workers compensation costs, and improve productivity and product quality were explored. Presenters at the conference came from the areas of manufacturing, construction, apparel and textile, health aspects of successful programs, worksite analysis, resources and where to go for help, maritime, health care, training, product design, utilities, office, warehousing, mining, employee involvement, and program evaluation.
