  An on site visit was conducted to the Steelcraft Manufacturing Company located in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the purpose of determining whether this site would be suitable for inclusion in an in depth epidemiological, industrial hygiene, and medical study of health hazards in the painting trades. This company was the largest manufacturer of steel doors and steel door frames in the country. The technology used in this facility, the coating material employed and the employee exposures received appeared to be representative of the metal furniture industry. In addition, the high volume of production on a two shift basis makes this a potential site for an in depth hygiene survey. The facility had only six workers who were directly involved in the painting operations, and perhaps another 25 to 30 people working near the electrostatic painting area. In addition, as the facility has only been in operation since 1940 and as of 1959 has only 200 employees, the number of long term and retired workers available for study was extremely limited. Due to the small number of painters at this site, and the automated nature of the painting operations, the site did not appear to be ideal for a medical study. The site was noted as a potential one for an industrial hygiene survey.
