  Factors influencing occupational free falls are reviewed. Comparative data on sex, age, race, or ethnic affiliation, geographic location, seasonal aspects, socioeconomic factors, and specific occupational environments are discussed. Problems encountered in establishing occupational classifications are described, and guidelines used to tabulate the database are discussed. The nature of the 14,870 case database within the occupational age range of 14 to 75 years is described. General occupationally related free fall trends and fatalities are discussed. The authors conclude that males have a higher incidence of falls than females.
