Worker exposures to N-nitroso compounds were investigated at Vulcan Steel Foundry (SIC-3321) in Oakland, California on October 1, 1980. The company was included in a NIOSH survey of n-nitroso formation during the manufacturing of iron and steel casting. Area air samples and a composite sand sample were analyzed for n-nitroso compounds and precursor amines. No n-nitroso compounds or amines were found in any of the samples.
