  Worker exposures to paints were examined at the Beech Aircraft Corporation (SIC-3721) in Salina, Kansas, on November 6, 1978. The company was under consideration for inclusion in a NIOSH study of the health effects of occupational paint exposure. Approximately 10 of the employees were assigned to the painting operations that were surveyed. The company had a formal safety and industrial hygiene program. Medical services were provided by two registered nurses and a consulting physician. Personnel records provided demographic information, department assignments, absence reports and medical histories. The authors conclude that this facility is suitable for the study of occupational health hazards in the painting industry but would not be ideal for epidemiological studies since painting operations have only existed for about 8 years.
