Description:An engineering guide for mechanical power press safety is presented. The technical, behavioral, and ergonomic aspects of mechanical power press safety are described based on worker characteristics. Various safeguarding systems are evaluated and recommendations are given for proper use. Each safeguard system is described based on operation and the worker whom it protects. The use of the system, installation instructions and recommendations, and maintenance instructions are outlined. The safety factors which must be considered when using the system are discussed also with selection criteria. The responsibilities of all groups of people involved with the selection and operation of the presses are reviewed.
